## What Contracko MCP gets done for you

Four AI contract management jobs people hand to Claude, ChatGPT or Codex on day one. Each one runs inside your workspace, with your permissions.

### Get every contract into Contracko

Onboard in an afternoon. Import agreements attached to the conversation or in bulk, file each under the right counterparty and contract type, and let the AI tidy the details.

### See every deadline coming

Ask across the whole portfolio for renewals, expiries, and notice windows, and get the terms summarized before they bite.

### Audit for risk and liability

Review liability caps, indemnities, termination rights, and unusual clauses across many agreements at once, using Contracko's AI analysis of each one.

### Compare vendors side by side

Line up payment, termination, and service terms across suppliers, or across versions of the same relationship, and negotiate from facts.

## What a conversation looks like

Claude, ChatGPT or Codex asks Contracko, Contracko answers from your workspace. Nothing here is a mock-up of a feature that does not exist.

## Connect Contracko MCP to Claude, ChatGPT, Codex or your CLI

Pick your assistant for setup steps that match its current MCP support, from a two-click connector to a single command in the terminal.

CLI, VS Code and coding agents

Microsoft 365 Copilot

### Claude

Add Contracko from Claude's connector directory with one click. It works on web, desktop, mobile and Cowork, on every Claude plan including Free. On Team and Enterprise, an Owner enables it first. On Pro and above you can also install the Contracko plugin (Customize, Plugins) for the four contract skills, then connect from its Connectors tab.

1. Choose Connect to Claude, sign in to Contracko and pick your workspace. Claude Code signed in with the same Claude account picks the connector up too.
2. Added Contracko as a custom connector before? Remove that one, or you will see every tool twice.

[Connect to Claude](https://claude.ai/directory/connectors/contracko)

### ChatGPT / Codex

ChatGPT connects to MCP servers as apps. On Business and Enterprise you create one in developer mode, and an admin can publish it to the whole workspace. Pro developer mode is read-only.

1. Open Settings → Security and login and turn on Developer mode.
2. Add an app with the Contracko endpoint and sign in with OAuth. Optionally, an admin can publish it to the whole workspace under Workspace settings → Apps.

[Open ChatGPT plugins](https://chatgpt.com/plugins) [Read the ChatGPT developer mode guide](https://help.openai.com/en/articles/12584461-developer-mode-apps-and-full-mcp-connectors-in-chatgpt-beta/)

### Cursor

Cursor installs a custom MCP server straight from a link, so there is no configuration file to edit. Click the button, confirm the server in Cursor, and sign in with your Contracko account.

1. Click Add to Cursor. Cursor opens and asks you to confirm the contracko server and its endpoint.
2. Sign in with OAuth and pick a workspace. The Contracko tools then appear in Cursor's MCP list. The first command below is the setup prompt; the second adds the skills library.

### Microsoft 365 Copilot

Admin-enabled

Microsoft 365 Copilot only reaches external tools through federated connectors: read-only, published by the vendor, and switched on by your Microsoft 365 admin. Contracko write workflows are not a direct install in Copilot Chat.

1. Ask your Microsoft 365 admin to enable the read-only Contracko connector once it is listed in the Connectors Gallery.
2. Then connect it yourself in Copilot Chat → Settings → Sources and sign in to Contracko.

## You stay in control, whichever assistant you use.

Claude, ChatGPT or your own coding agent reads only what your account can reach, and nothing is written, changed or deleted without your approval. That makes it safer than a standing API key, and it lets you keep the assistant that already understands your work.

### You are in the driver's seat

The assistant acts as you, inside the workspace you picked, and never gets its own account. Anything you cannot open in Contracko, Claude or ChatGPT cannot open either.

### Read and write are separate

You approve read or write access at connection time, and write-capable actions go through your client's approval step before they run.

### Every action is visible

Created and updated records carry normal validation and land in activity history, labelled as coming from MCP.

## Contract Management MCP questions

What access means, what the AI can change, and where the audit trail lives.

- **Q:** What is an MCP server, and why should I use it?
**A:** MCP, the Model Context Protocol, is an open standard that lets AI assistants such as Claude and ChatGPT connect to outside tools and data. An MCP server exposes what a product can do, and Contracko's exposes your contracts, deadlines and reviews. The point is that you stop switching tools: ask for a renewal check or a risk review in the assistant you already have open, and the answer comes from your real contracts rather than something you pasted in.

- **Q:** Which AI assistants can I connect?
**A:** Claude on web, desktop, mobile and Cowork, from Claude's connector directory, and Claude Code, through the Contracko plugin. ChatGPT, through its own connector settings. Cursor, with a one-click install. Codex, Codex CLI, Warp, Kilo Code, Qwen Code, Antigravity, VS Code and GitHub Copilot in VS Code, through their MCP configuration. Microsoft 365 Copilot, when an admin enables the read-only connector. Gemini CLI as well, though the Gemini app does not support custom MCP servers yet. Any client that speaks MCP over HTTP with OAuth works, the [setup prompt](https://contracko.com/mcp/install/prompt.md) walks each one through it, and the [setup documentation](https://contracko.com/docs/mcp-server) covers the rest, including Grok, OpenClaw and Hermes.

- **Q:** Is the MCP server included in my plan?
**A:** Yes. Every Contracko plan includes it, at no extra cost and with no add-on to buy. You connect with your own account, so what you can do through an assistant is exactly what you can already do in the Contracko app.

- **Q:** Can the AI change contracts without my permission?
**A:** No. The client needs an approved write scope, the signed-in member must still have the matching workspace permission, and Claude, ChatGPT or Codex applies its own approval policy before a write runs. You can revoke the OAuth connection from Contracko or from the client at any time.

- **Q:** What can I ask Contracko through Claude or ChatGPT?
**A:** Ask in your own words. Your assistant can find and open contracts, read Contracko's analysis of each one (risks, obligations, gaps, liability and termination terms), compare agreements, import new files and update the details, keep folders in order and file contracts into them, and set reminders. Narrowing works the way you would ask a colleague: by counterparty, contract type or status, folder, or the end and notice dates falling in a given window. Everything runs inside the permissions you already have, so your assistant sees what you see. Changing who has access, deleting folders and signing workflows stay in the Contracko app, and your client always lists the actions the connection currently offers.

- **Q:** Can I control the permissions of the MCP connection?
**A:** Yes. You choose read or write access when you connect, and you can revoke a connection at any time from Contracko. Read-only is worth starting with while you are learning what an assistant is good at: it can search, open and analyse everything your own account can reach, but it cannot create, edit or file anything, so a misread instruction costs you nothing. Grant write access once you want the assistant to do the filing too. Either way it can never exceed the permissions you already have.

- **Q:** Is there a skills library for my agent?
**A:** Yes. The open [Contracko skills library](https://github.com/contracko/contracko-skills) teaches Claude Code, Codex, Cursor and other agents how to connect, import a contract pile, review renewals and risk, and create and file new agreements. Connect the MCP server first with the setup prompt on this page. Coding agents can then install the skills with npx skills add https://contracko.com or as a Claude Code plugin.

- **Q:** How is this different from the Contracko API?
**A:** The [contract management API](https://contracko.com/features/contract-management-api) and the [Parsing API](https://contracko.com/developers/api/parsing/reference) are for software a developer builds and runs. The MCP server is for an assistant a person talks to, so there is nothing to write and nothing to host. Either way you go through the same workspace permissions and leave the same audit trail, so the difference is who is driving, not what they are allowed to do.

- **Q:** Are my contracts used to train AI models?
**A:** Not by Contracko. Under every AI provider's commercial API terms, customer content is excluded from model training, and we hold multiple Zero Data Retention agreements with AI providers. Your AI client is a separate provider with its own settings: turn off model training there (Claude, ChatGPT, and Gemini each have a switch) before you connect real contracts. Details are on our [security page](https://contracko.com/features/security).
